Annual Members and Board of Trustees Meetings: Distinguished Speakers on Climate Change
Filed under: Discovery,News & Resources
At the Annual Members and Board of Trustees Meetings last week Ocean Leadership was proud to have three superb speakers discussing climate change issues.
The first was Ralph Cicerone, President of the National Academy of Science, who presented an update on the current science of climate change and discussed the progress of the Academy’s America’s Climate Choice study which is tasked with informing and guiding the government responses to climate change across the nation.
Second, we heard from Jane Lubchenco, NOAA Administrator, who is at the center of climate issues in the Administration and has also been a driving force behind the President’s new National Ocean Policy and upcoming framework for marine spatial planning.
Finally, we received a wonderful presentation from Rear Admiral David Titley, Oceanographer of the Navy, who is leading the Navy Task Force Assessing Climate Change which is examining the effects of climate change on national security.
