NEW JERSEY SHALLOW SHELF EXPEDITION SAMPLING PARTY UNDERWAY
In Bremen, scientists from Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Expedition 313 to the New Jersey Shallow Shelf continue to process cores as part of the Onshore Science Party. Cores are being processed at an average rate of 53 m/day. The team is expected to complete core processing in early December 2009.
Expedition 313 focused on changes in sea level and margin stratigraphy and was led by co-chief scientists Dr. Gregory Mountain (Rutgers University, USA) and Dr. Jean-Noël Proust (CNRS, University of Rennes, France) and staff scientist David McInroy (European Consortium for Ocean Research Drilling). The expedition departed and returned to Atlantic City, New Jersey on board the L/B Kayd from 30 April to 18 July, 2009. Expedition 313 recovered 1311.4 m of core with an overall recovery of 80.29 percent of drilled length.
