The Consortium for Ocean Leadership and the Secretariat of the Census of Marine Life (CoML) recently hosted the latest Pacific Ocean Shelf Tracking (POST) Project board meeting in Washington, DC.
The board meeting focused on discussing POST’s contribution to the Decade of Discovery events in London in October and presented an opportunity for them to work with the Secretariat to advance these items. The Board Members also held several meetings on Capitol Hill with members of Congress from the West Coast. A reception was held at the Cosmos Club where POST scientists gave a short talk explaining their science to the Washington community. For more information on POST, visit www.postcoml.org.
The Secretariat also hosted members of the Education and Outreach team and Synthesis team in March for a communications workshop to further develop several key messaging items for the Decade of Discovery events. The workshop was a success with much progress made on several key documents for the events in October. The results of the workshop will be presented to the full Scientific Steering Committee at the next meeting in June in New York City.
Just last week, the U.S. Census of Marine Life program put out their quarterly newsletter, a continual effort to keep its constituents up-to-date with the latest from the program office and the Census and biodiversity communities in the U.S. This issue featured recaps from recent major conference sessions, a new batch of frequently asked questions, our seven question interview segment, and as always, our YouTube clip of the Quarter. This newsletter, and past U.S. CoML newsletter can be found at http://www.coml.us/?anchor=us_newsletter. Look for our next issue at the end of May.
