The Ocean Research and Resources Advisory Panel (ORRAP) Ocean Acidification Task Force will meet on 6-7 December at Ocean Leadership in Washington, DC. The task force will hear from the Interagency Working Group on Ocean Acidification (IWG-OA) regarding the recommendations from the task force to the IWG-OA. The meeting will also incorporate the perspectives of industry and foundations and possibly formulate additional recommendations. The task force will also meet jointly with the ORRAP Ocean Observing Sub-panel on 7 December to consider coordination of ocean acidification sensor testing and development and examine existing collaborations in this field.
On 7 December, in addition to meeting with the Ocean Acidification Task Force, the Ocean Observing Sub-panel will hear briefings on the Ocean Observatories Initiative, the Integrated Ocean Observing System, and the data initiatives for both of those programs.
The ORRAP will meet next week on 8-9 December at the Ocean Leadership offices. The meeting will feature discussion on potential roles of the ORRAP regarding the National Ocean Council and the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. A session on geoengineering will be presented for ORRAP consideration. All are welcome. Please continue to monitor the ORRAP website for updates: http://www.nopp.org/committees/orrap/.
