Scientists to Showcase Studies Informing Decisions on Ocean Energy
WASHINGTON — The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will brief members of the National Ocean Partnership Program and other organizations on Dec. 13, 2011, regarding key studies conducted by the bureau’s Environmental Studies Program. Research from the studies program covers areas including physical oceanography, atmospheric sciences, biology, protected species, social sciences and economics, submerged cultural resources and environmental fates and effects. BOEM is a leading contributor to the growing body of scientific knowledge about the nation’s marine and coastal environment.
BOEM develops and uses applied science to inform decision-making to ensure environmentally responsible ocean energy and mineral resource development and to achieve economic value for the nation’s shared resources.
