Program Update: Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative – August 2011
The Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GRI) awarded $112.5 Million over the next three years to eight research consortia (RFP I) to study the effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on the Gulf of Mexico.
Year-1 research has wrapped up, while Summer Sampling (RFP-III) to ensure data consistency is underway through September.
The GRI will release RFP II in the fall with up to $7.5 million per year available for PI-based research across the five GRI research themes.
