The 2011 National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) regional competitions were held on February 5 and February 26. The top team from each of the 25 regions is advancing to the 2011 NOSB Finals, which will be held in Galveston, Texas at the Texas A&M University, Galveston from April 29 – May 1, 2011. The list of regional winners is available on the NOSB web site at http://www.nosb.org/competitions-2/finals-competition/.
The teams attending Finals will participate in exciting, interactive field trips, an engaging career event and a new pilot Policy Briefing component designed to improve their critical thinking and cooperative learning skills. NOSB also partnered with the National Marine Educators Association (NMEA) and the Ocean Today Kiosk to sponsor the 2011 Living on the Ocean Planet video contest. This year the contest theme was “Human Responses to Ocean Events.” The 2011 contest resulted in the largest number of video submissions to date. The winners will be announced in late March and the national 1st place video team will receive HD Flip video cameras and an all-expense paid trip to Galveston, TX to premiere their video at the NOSB Finals. The 1st place team’s video will also premiere on the Ocean Today Kiosk.
