From the President’s Office – 11/29/2012

I hope you all had a restful and pleasant Thanksgiving holiday with your family and friends.
I don’t have anything new to report to you this week with respect to the federal fiscal cliff status, although it is clear that the temperature of the rhetoric over the issue is rising. We will continue to monitor the situation, and let you know of any progress, especially with the potential across-the-board spending cuts that would impact federal support for academic research.
Next week, I will be in San Francisco for the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting. Two of our programs, the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) and the Ocean Observatories Initiative (OOI), will be holding a number of sessions, posters, short courses, town halls and workshops during the Meeting, as well as exhibiting at booth number 1117. For detailed information on Ocean Leadership’s AGU participation, continue reading below. It is shaping up to be a very busy and productive week. I look forward to seeing many of you at these events and at our exhibit space.
Have a great weekend, and if you are attending AGU as well, safe travels!
