From the President’s Office – 7/19/2012
Congress has only a few more weeks of legislative work left in Washington before they adjourn for the year to campaign for the November elections. Unfortunately, it appears that they will avoid what has become an annual showdown at the end of the fiscal year, by passing a continuing resolution to keep the government funded until after the elections and possibly through the end of the next calendar year. So, while we may avoid a fiery debate on the annual appropriations bills, the looming budget sequestration, debt-ceiling increase, and expiring tax cuts will no doubt be the central focus of political campaigns and likely the attention of a lame duck Congress. It is going to be an incredibly busy fall! We will keep you abreast of the latest news as we continue to do everything we can to fight for protecting federal research and education programs in this most difficult financial environment.
Enjoy your summer weekend.
Bob
