Program Update: Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative – April 2013

The Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) and its partners are pleased to announce that the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill & Ecosystem Science Conference, which took place in January of this year, will be held annually! There will be a 2014 conference on January 27-29, in Mobile, Alabama. The themes and framework for the 2014 conference are now available. To keep up to date on conference news, you can visit the GoMRI conference website here.
The GoMRI hosted an exhibit booth at the American Chemical Society’s National Meeting & Exposition on April 7-11 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Several local GoMRI staff attended where they worked the booth and answered the questions of many interested students and researchers.
Twenty-four members of the GoMRI Data Management team attended a meeting in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 25-26. They discussed and gave feedback on the current data management system in place within the GoMRI consortia, and held several working groups to address new data collection and management questions that have arisen over the last year. These data managers are continuously working to evaluate and improve the GoMRI’s methods for data collection and archival as the program moves forward.
