Assistant Professor, SoMAS
Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Marine Biogeochemistry, to begin as early as Fall 2013.
Successful candidates are expected to develop an independent, externally funded research program, teach and direct research at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in school and university services. All candidates must have a PhD in Marine Biogeochemistry or a relevant field, and have demonstrated excellence in research and a strong commitment to teaching. The position is expected to be filled at the Assistant Professor level.
The successful candidate will join a faculty internationally known for their leadership in research in the atmospheric sciences, fisheries and all the major disciplines of oceanography. The School has more than 500 undergraduate and graduate students and about 50 faculty and 40 staff working together to better understand how our marine, terrestrial and atmospheric environments function and are related to one another providing numerous opportunities for collaborative and interdisciplinary research.
