Alex started at Ocean Leadership as a Sr. Project Engineer (COTR - Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative) for the cyberinfrastructure component for the Ocean Observing Initiative (OOI) project in 2007. He is responsible for project management of the contract with the University of California, San Diego. Recently, Alex has also become more involved with the management of project controls. He is currently leading a team that will establish and carry out the Earned Value Management System for OOI: direct technical and programmatic teams that implement the EVMS processes within financial and information systems. These systems deliver guidance to produce high quality project planning, control and execution for the $750 million project.
Alex has spent most of the less recent past in academia as Information Systems faculty. His research and interests focus on project management, financial systems, coordination theory, network and process structures, computer system design and development, interplays between efficiency, time and risk, supply chains and electronic commerce. Some of his research has been published in outlets such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Information Privacy & Security, Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce, Journal of Business Logistics, Transportation Journal and Journal of Enterprise Information Management.
Alex grew up in Edmonton, Alberta where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance from University of Alberta. Alex holds a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems and Master of Computer Science from Arizona State University.
