National Oceanographic Partnership Program Presents Excellence in Partnering Award
On June 5th, the NOPP Excellence in Partnering Award was presented by Senator Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) to Dr. Eric Chassignet, lead principal investigator for the U.S. GODAE: Global Ocean Prediction with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM), and 24 partner institutions and organizations.
NOPP Announces 2007 Excellence in Partnering Award Winner
The winning project of this year’s Excellence in Partnering Award is U.S. GODAE: Global Ocean Predication with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). The Excellence in Partnering Award is given to a National Oceanographic Partnership Program Project that has exemplified the NOPP goals of partnering across industry, academia and government to promote the national goals of assuring national security, advancing economic development, protecting quality of life, and strengthening science education and communication through improved knowledge of the ocean.
Researchers To Develop Ocean Sanctuary ‘Noise Budget’ To Evaluate Potential Impact On Marine Life
Like sentinels at their posts, an array of buoys equipped with underwater microphones and other sensors will be on duty in the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary off the coast of Massachusetts for the next 30 months, recording sounds from whales, fish, ships and other sources around the clock.
