School of Rock 2008 teacher participants will be mentored and taught by scientists who are actively engaged in IODP research and by IODP education and technical staff, who will provide guidance and content related to hands-on laboratory activities.
Sixteen middle, high school and community college teachers from across the country visited College Station, TX, to take part in the annual School of Rock workshop at the Integrated Ocean Drilling Program’s (IODP) Gulf Coast Repository.

Mark’s first stop was to West Elementary in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee where he and Tina co-taught their activity based on authentic data from Dr. Leckie’s ODP Leg 130 in the western equatorial Pacific to three 5th grade classes.
COLLEGE STATION, TX – Touring the 14,000 square-foot facility, refrigerated to 40° F, generated “oohs,” “aahs” and “brrrs” from the nation-wide group of middle school, high school and undergraduate educators. Seventeen educators from across the country were selected in a competitive application process to participate in “School of Rock 2007.”
