MS PHD's Professional Development Program![]() The Minorities Striving and Pursuing Higher Degrees of Success in the Earth System Sciences (MS PHD'S) Professional Development Program was developed for and by underrepresented minorities (African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans) to address critical gaps in preparation, representation and full participation of minorities in Earth system science. The program provides minority undergraduate and graduate students with broad and in-depth science exposure, valuable long-term mentoring opportunities, and professional development activities that will further equip them in making informed post-baccalaureate, academic and professional career decisions. MS PHD'S is housed at the Institute for Broadening Participation and is jointly funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). More information on the MS PHD'S Program can be found at the MS PHD'S website. Over the course of the year, Ocean Leadership sponsors the participation of selected MS PHD'S students in a wide range of Ocean Leadership-related workshops, panel meetings, and other activities. Where have we gone in the past?
Above: During Phase III, the MS PHD'S cohorts visit Washington, DC for the Capstone Experience at the National Academies of Science. Students also visit Federal agencies, such as NOAA, EPA and NSF. | 1201 New York Ave NW | |
