Malinda Burk
Malinda Burk is a 9th grade Earth and Physical Science teacher hailing from Lincoln, NE. Originally from northwest Iowa, she attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA where she earned a B.A. in Biology-Health Professions. After working for a couple of years for a cable company, Malinda moved to Lincoln to pursue a Master¹s in Teaching, Learning, and Teacher Education. She fell in love with Earth Science during her practicum hours, and was a last-minute hire to teach 9th grade Earth Science for a semester at Lincoln High. Malinda enjoyed it so much that she has just stuck around for another 2 years. In addition to her science duties, she also teaches Student Council, manages the College Access grant and is a strengths-coach for a program Lincoln High is doing with the Gallup Institute.
Outside of school, Malinda enjoys looking for excuses to travel, especially during the summer. One of her favorite locations is Ocho Rios, Jamaica; she fell in love with that location last summer and tries to visit a couple of times a year. When she manages to stay home for a bit, she likes to garden and do home improvement projects.
