The Consortium for Ocean Leadership is no longer accepting applications to attend the 2009 Marine Geoscience Leadership Symposium.
Eligibility
Eligible scientists should have completed their Ph.D. between December 1, 2005 and December 1, 2008. Exceptions will be considered based on availability. Applicants may be from any subfield of marine geology and/or marine geophysics (for example, sedimentary geology, geochemistry, marine geophysics, microbiology, marine sedimentology, paleoceanography, tectonophysics, volcanology, hydrogeology, igneous petrology). A limited number of participants from outside the U.S. may be supported.
Application Criteria

- Cover Sheet: Read and fill out the cover sheet completely.
- Letter of Interest: A letter highlighting previous research experience and publications as well as previous leadership experience. Applicants should also indicate their current position, area of expertise, their professional aspirations, and how the leadership training will help them reach their goals. The review panel will judge written communication skills assessed from the clarity, conciseness, and organization of the application.
- Curriculum Vitae: The applicants complete CV should include educational history (degrees and dates awarded), employment experience, and any authored or co-authored journal articles, abstracts, or other publications. The review panel will judge the breadth of experience and leadership potential.
- Abstract: Describe the applicant’s dissertation or other relevant recent research in 400 words or less. The review panel will judge the quality, originality, and potential impact of the described research.
- Demographic Information Form: This information will not be disclosed to external peer reviewers. If you do not wish to fill out any of the information (excluding your name), please check the appropriate box.
