A team of five Lower Dauphin High School students finished in fifth place at the recent Penguin Bowl held on Feb. 23 at the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium. The team competed against 16 other schools from Ohio and Pennsylvania. Team members were Andrew Reichel, Mike Reese, Cassie Dzuranin, Sarah Wagoner, and Ashley Lupinacci.

Inaugurated in 1998, the Penguin Bowl is one of 24 regional finals for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, a contest that provides a forum for students excelling in math and science to receive reeognition for their talents. Suhjeet areas of emphasis in the contest included biology, chemistry, geology, physics, history, and economics of the world's oeeans, as well as navigation, geography, and ocean-related current events.
