Susan joined the Ocean Observing Activities Program Office in August, 2006. She comes to JOI from the NOAA Coastal Ocean Program where she managed research projects on the topics of harmful algal blooms and the impacts of multiple stressors to coastal ecosystems. Before joining NOAA in 1992, she was a senior research assistant at the University of Maryland’s Horn Point Laboratory and research associate at Texas A & M University. Her research experience is in nutrient cycling and phytoplankton growth, radionuclide geochemistry, and the biogeochemistry of silica. She has an M.S. in chemical oceanography from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
