Ocean Leadership Events on the Hill
Each year, the Consortium for Ocean Leadership hosts a variety of outreach and advocacy events in Washington, D.C. These events serve as an opportunity to engage member institutions in policy, develop partnerships with legislators and other scientific organizations, and educate the public about the need for science-based ocean policy.Ocean Leadership’s main events include the Public Policy Forum, Senate Oceans Caucus Inaugural Reception, and many other individual receptions, briefings and meetings. Events are commonly hosted solely by the Consortium, yet often in collaboration with other well known ocean policy and science organizations and/or the backing of prominent leaders in U.S. Government.
